Virender Sehwag and Quinton de Kock
Sehwag slammed LSG staff for dropping De Kock

Lucknow Super Giants, for the 2nd year in a row, qualified for the playoffs but crashed out of the tournament in the eliminator round. On May 25, Lucknow suffered an 81-run defeat against Mumbai Indians.

After the loss, the fans and experts bashed skipper Krunal Pandya and LSG management for several wrong decisions, and the latest to jump onto the bandwagon is former India opener Virender Sehwag.

Sehwag slammed the LSG management for leaving Quinton de Kock out from such a crucial game over Kyle Mayers because the latter scored a fifty in Chennai when LSG squared off against CSK at Chepauk early on in the tournament.

Further, the 42-year-old cited an example and remarked that the current form matters for a player’s selection.

“Even though I have scored a triple hundred in Chennai, that does not mean today I will go out and score again. Current form matters, and I feel Lucknow made a massive mistake dropping De Kock.”

Notably, Mayers became a permanent player in the playing XI for LSG early on because of a string of good scores, and De Kock got to play a game very late in the tournament.
