After IPL 16, fans will shift their focus to the WTC final where India will face Australia from June 7-11 at the Ovals. The first batch of Indian players, who have crashed out of IPL, have already travelled to London to prepare for the all-important red-ball match.
Ahead of the finals, former India coach Ravi Shastri, who was in charge of the side when they reached the finals in 2021, spoke about the bowling combinations for the crucial game.
The 60-year-old highlighted that when India played against New Zealand in 2021, they had several fast-bowling options, but the Rohit Sharma-led side would be without Jasprit Bumrah’s services for the upcoming tie.
Further, Shastri dropped a big remark and stated that if the team feel they lack quality in their seam bowling, they can play Ravichandran Ashwin.
“You have got horses for courses. With Jasprit Bumrah out, if you feel your seam bowling lacks quality, pacers are getting old and not that quick, then go ahead with Ashwin, as he is as good as Ravindra Jadeja.”
Notably, Ravi Shastri recently named his combined XI for the WTC final, where he surprisingly left R Ashwin out.
