Shubman Gill
Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill was miffed with batters after the team was dismissed for 89 runs in 17.3 overs.

Shubman Gill is likely to face sanction from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The Gujarat Titans captain was involved in a heated argument with the on-field umpire and angrily threw the ball. The incident happened on the last ball of the 17th over, which Mohit Sharma bowled.

The bowler delivered a slower ball that was wide of the off-stump. It was declared a wide, which irked Shubman as he thought Samson had moved towards the ball. He took a DRS and even the third umpire stuck with the on-field umpire’s decision. Gill lost his cool and started arguing with the decision-maker. He was shouting and even threw the ball while going back to his fielding position.

The umpires in the match will probably report the incident to the referee, who could call the GT skipper to inform him about the sanctions. According to the rules and regulations, players cannot show dissent at the umpire’s call. The match referees have taken strong action against the cricketers for refusing to accept the decisions. Gill’s angry reaction could put him into big trouble, with a match fee fine being the outcome.

Former India player Mohammad Kaif was also surprised by Shubman’s outburst. “Gill has started reacting angrily to umpires since he became Gujarat’s captain. This is what happens when you start leading a side,” he said.

The young batter hasn’t set the stage on fire as far as captaincy is concerned. The Titans have looked vulnerable and lost a couple of close games.
