India are blessed with several match-winning spinners. Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal have been among wickets in international cricket and the Indian Premier League.

Among all these, Chahal is hogging all the limelight at the moment. He is the current Purple Cap holder with 12 wickets. Yuzi has taken 199 wickets in the cash-rich league.

Former India player Harbhajan Singh hailed Yuzvendra for his bowling display in the 17th season of the tournament. “He is champion cricketer. There is no one like him in world cricket. I am a big fan of him. He is the only spinner, who is bowling like a spinner in the Indian Premier League.

“He is bowling slow and is not afraid of flighting the ball. The spinners ball fast these days to avoid getting hit by the batters but Yuzi is different. Even if he goes for a six or four, he doesn’t change his style of bowling,” Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports.

Surprisingly, he doesn’t feature in Team India these days. The management and the national selectors have ignored him despite his track record. He was also not offered a central contract, which shocked former players and fans.

The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee will be under pressure while picking the team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. If Chahal doesn’t get the ticket, there is a possibility of backlash.
