India recently defeated Bangladesh 2-0 to stay alive in the World Test Championship. The Indian side now need to win three games out of their four-Test match series against Australia to qualify for the finals.
Shortly after the Bangladesh win, Ravichandran Ashwin, who starred for India in the 2nd match, took to his YouTube channel, where he talked about meeting Bangladesh’s Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan after the end of play on day 3.
In the video, Ashwin praised Litton Das and narrated the conversation he had with him.
“I chatted with Das and told him I saw his debut game and was very impressed by his skills. I also said that I am disappointed because he did not reach the levels of Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Joe Root, and Kane Williamson.”
Ashwin’s remarks spread like fire on the internet. Finally, days after being in the news, Das responded to the Indian off-spinner and revealed why he could not reach the level of Virat Kohli.
“I had a conversation with Ash bhai and told him that things were different back then. I was young, and the more you play, the more you grow.”
Das then blamed the lack of away series for his inability to grow as per fans’ expectations. “We do not play away series. We haven’t toured Australia, nor do we often play in South Africa, India or Pakistan.”
“Indian team play regularly against big teams. Even during the IPL, they get the opportunity to play against top cricketers, then only you get to learn a lot.”
