Prithvi Shaw has become only the 8th Indian batsman to score a double-century in List A cricket, following his brilliant 227*.

India and Mumbai batsman Prithvi Shaw on Friday created history by joining the 200-run club in List A cricket. Opening the innings against Pondicherry in a Vijay Hazare Trophy fixture, Shaw completed his maiden double-century in the 45th over with a single.

Shaw, who now has 6 centuries in List A cricket, had scored 150 – for India A against New Zealand A – prior to this knock. The 23-year-old has become only the 8th Indian batsman to score a double-century in List A cricket. The elite list is topped by Sachin Tendulkar, who was the one to achieve the feat.

Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shikhar Dhawan, and Karn Kaushal have also achieved the landmark at the highest level. Prithvi, who is leading the team for the first time in his career, is the second cricketer from Mumbai to achieve this feat.

Leading the team in Shreyas Iyer’s absence, Prithvi Shaw completed his half-century off just 27 balls. He also reached double figures before the conclusion of the 20th over. His 227* is now the highest-ever score in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

SuryaKumar Yadav, who will join Inda’s T20I squad for the upcoming series vs England, also showcased his class in the fixture, scoring 133 off 58, batting at 229.31. Meanwhile, Shaw has been dropped from both, Test and T20I squads for the ongoing England series.

Last year, Shaw had travelled with the Indian Team to Australia. However, he was dropped from playing XI after the first Test in Adelaide. He will eye for a comeback in the ODI team for the upcoming series. Shaw has scores of 105*, 34 and 227* in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

India and England will play three ODI after the conclusion of the ongoing Test series, followed by a five-match T20I series.
