Rahul Dravid and Chetan Sharma had made it clear that Saha would not be considered in the future.

Wriddhiman Saha performed well in 40 Tests he played for India. The right-handed batter scored 1353 runs, including three centuries and six fifties. Saha also took 92 catches and affected 12 stumps.

On Wednesday, reports emerged that Saha has opted out of the Ranji Trophy for Bengal as he was informed by the Indian team management that he is not required. At 37, Saha was on the last leg of his career, but many feel he could have played more.

Former India wicketkeeper Syed Kirmani called Saha a victim of politics while sharing a message for the veteran player.

“You did a splendid job for the country, and you were dropped because you didn’t belong to any particular group. You are a victim of politics, and I will remember you as a good wicketkeeper,” Kirmani told Saha via Mid-Day.

Saha lost his place to Rishabh Pant, who is an aggressive cricketer. “Wriddhi is still the best wicketkeeper in India, and he shouldn’t get upset. Dinesh Karthik and Parthiv Patel were treated in the same fashion,” Kirmani pointed out.
