The wife of Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami submitted a petition in the Supreme Court on Tuesday asking it to reverse the Calcutta High Court’s decision to deny her request to have Shami’s arrest order withdrawn. She had petitioned the court to overturn the order, but it was denied on March 28, 2023.

Mohammed Shami’s estranged wife filed a Special Leave Petition to the Supreme Court, alleging that the fast bowler’s criminal case has been “erroneously stayed for the past 4 years, without any just circumstances,” and that he has continued to have extramarital affairs with many women even while on tour with the senior national cricket team.

Hasin Jahan had approached the police in Jadavpur in 2018. She first revealed about Mohammed Shami’s alleged domestic violence and adultery. Even though the fast bowler has denied all accusations, the cricketer’s estranged wife has been relentlessly arguing Shami’s case.

In January 2023, the Kolkata court ordered Shami to pay a monthly alimony of Rs 50,000 to her.

Hasin Jahan was not pleased with the court’s orders and demanded Rs 10 lakh per month from the Indian pacer. Jahan filed a lawsuit in 2018 asking for a monthly alimony payment of 10 lakh rupees, which includes 7 lakh for personal costs and 3 lakh for the maintenance of their daughter.
