Kings XI Punjab are confident of putting up a great show in the upcoming season of Indian Premier League under the leadership of KL Rahul. The franchise hasn’t won any IPL tournament since the inception of the league in 2008. While they made it to the semis in 2008, they were undone in the finale by KKR in 2014. The team is confident of breaking the jinx in the UAE.

The 28-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has been one of the best performers for KXIP in the last two seasons. In IPL 2019, Rahul scored 593 runs at a brilliant average of 53.90. He was asked to lead the side after R Ashwin was traded to Delhi Capitals.

The Karnataka batsman recently heaped praise on the former India player and current KXIP’s Director of Cricket Operations, Anil Kumble for helping him in his career. Rahul also claimed that he shares a good camaraderie with the legendary spinner off the field.

“Anil Bhai helps me a lot because I share a very good relationship off the field as we are from the same state. He has made life as captain very easy,” KL Rahul said in a video posted by IPL Twitter handle.

KL Rahul lauds Anil Kumble

Ahead of the 13th edition of IPL, which is set to kick-off from next month, the KXIP captain stated that Anil Kumble has laid down the plan for the team and he just needs to follow his instructions.

“I know he will do most of the planning and I just have to go out in the middle and carry it out,” said Rahul.
