The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The most debatable exclusion was of Rinku Singh, who was considered as the perfect finisher. Despite his magnificent performances against Australia and South Africa, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee didn’t pick him in the 15-member squad.

He is a part of reserve category and will only join the team if a batter gets injured during the tournament. Former India player Irfan Pathan was unhappy with Rinku’s snub and slammed the selectors for ignoring the match-winning knocks of the southpaw.

“I think Rinku Singh’s recent past performance for Team India shouldn’t have been ignored,” he wrote on X.

The below-par performance in IPL 2024 and competition for places have led to Singh’s removal. The selectors are counting on Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube to finish the matches for the Men in Blue.

The selectors have gone with four spinners. Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel have made it to the team.
