Ahead of Delhi Capitals’ match against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, Former England off-spinner Graeme Swann lavished praise on India and Delhi Capitals’ star opening batsman Prithvi Shaw.

Shaw, however, hasn’t been consistent with the bat, so far, having scored 202 runs from 8 matches, with a not so convincing average of just over 25. But, his strike rate of 149.62 is tremendous for an opening batsman.

Speaking on the latest episode of Star Sports’ Cricket Connected, Swann compared Shaw with former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag and also lauded Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy and DC coach Ricky Ponting.

Swann called the DC opener as “baby Sehwag” while saying the former opener is one of his favorite Indian players of all time.

“There are a couple of things. Firstly, Shreyas Iyer is a very very good leader. Secondly, Ricky Ponting. I saw him smile after a game that he never did when he played against England. So, I think they are a happy team,” said Swann.

“Prithvi Shaw, as well. I love the way he bats. he is like a baby Sehwag, a miniature version of Virender Sehwag, who is one of my favorite Indian players of all time,” he added.

Swann also said that DC is one of the strongest teams in IPL 2020, having won 6 of their 8 games, so far.

“I think, all in all, they’ve got a very strong team and they are playing with a lot of confidence. I think they look like the team to beat, at the moment,” he signed off.
