Ravi Shastri was always looking for new faces that could help Indian cricket when he was the head coach of the national team. He believes in youths’ power and has often spoken about talent. The veteran cricketer and probably the most followed voice in the commentary box, Shastri, has heaped massive praise on Dhruv Jurel, who finally got a chance to show his batting in the Indian Premier League 2024.

He didn’t get enough deliveries in the previous games and failed with the bat. However, the situation was different for Rajasthan Royals in their match against Lucknow Super Giants. Dhruv, along with captain Sanju Samson, not only rescued their franchise but also won the game by 7 wickets.

The visitors lost three wickets in a few balls after a blistering start by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler. The two openers and Riyan Parag were back in the dugout, with Rajasthan still needing a fair amount of runs.

Samson and Jurel took some time before going after the bowlers. They added unbeaten 121 runs, with RR winning in 19 overs while chasing 197.

Shastri was pleased with the performance of the 23-year-old.

“This Jurel is a Jewel for Indian cricket. Right now and going ahead into the future. Serious Dude,” he wrote on X.

The right-handed batter scored 52 not out off 34, laced with 5 fours and 2 sixes. On the other hand, Samson accumulated an unbeaten 71 off 33, packed with 7 fours and 4 sixes.

Earlier, Jurel made his Test debut against England and impressed everyone. He was named the Player of the Match in the fourth Test for his batting and wicket-keeping in Ranchi. Dhruv Jurel scored 90 and an unbeaten 39 in the match.
