Yashasvi Jaiswal hasn’t clicked for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2024. Jaiswal’s failures have impacted his chances of making it to Team India’s ICC T20 World Cup squad in June. The southpaw has been the only weak point in Rajasthan’s top order. His habit of getting over-aggressive has resulted in his downfall. Jaiswal has tried to take on the bowlers from the first ball of his innings, and despite missing the shot, he hasn’t tried to spend time at the crease.

The franchise management is still backing it, as the young batter recently scored more than 700 runs in the five-match Test series against England.

Even former Inia player Navjot Singh Sidhu refused to criticize him. He is confident of Jaiswal’s success in the remaining games. “This is not happening for the first time in cricket. Sunil Gavaskar experienced failures in his career. Sachin Tendulkar went through a lean patch. Even I couldn’t score runs in several matches. When Sachin and Gavaskar can be allowed, why not Yashasvi Jaiswal?

“Jaiswal has to understand the importance of spending time at the crease. He has thrown away his wicket. Jaiswal looked good in the previous game against Gujarat but failed to convert his start into a big score. He has to take a feel of the pitch by playing some balls cautiously.

“He can break free when he thinks that ball is coming nicely onto his bat. There is nothing wrong with his technique. He just needs to spend time in the middle. He can tell his batting partner to play aggressively to allow him to play some dot ball and return to form,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said.

He has accumulated 63 runs in five matches at an average of 12.60 and a strike rate of 136.95.
