The veteran player them joined KKR and the team was the best team in the Indian Premier League 2024. Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu said that Gambhir is the best candidate to take Dravid’s place.

“Gautam Gambhir has nothing else left to prove. He led Kolkata Knight Riders to two IPL titles when he was their captain. And now he has mace Kolkata the best franchise in this season as a mentor. He deserves to be India’s new coach,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said on Star Sports.

Irfan Pathan also backed Gambhir. “Gautam Gambhir is also a leader and he can take the team forward,” Irfan Pathan said.
