Indian speedster, Umesh Yadav is known for his bowling prowess but he was surprisingly promoted to open the batting for the two-time defending champions of Ranji Trophy, Vidarbha against Karnataka in the Super League of the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy.
Umesh Yadav started off with a bang and smacked a four but he was brought down to earth the very next delivery as he lost his wicket. He could score merely fours runs and this fancy experiment by Vidarbha failed miserably. This was the first time when Umesh batted in the top five in his cricket career.
Umesh Yadav was overlooked from India’s squad for the five-match ODI series against Australia. It would be interesting to see whether he gets selected for the ICC showpiece event or not. Umesh Yadav didn’t do too well in India’s historic Test series win in Australia as well. And his stocks are on the down when it comes to the highest level.
