Former Pakistan player and bowling coach of Kolkata Knight Riders, Wasim Akram, wants Rohit Sharma to play for the two-time champions from IPL 2025. Rohit was sacked from MI captaincy and was replaced by Hardik Pandya ahead of IPL 2024. The move has back-fired as Mumbai have been eliminated from playoff race.

Many feel Rohit will leave the five-time champions after the 17th season. Akram wants to see Rohit playing for Kolkata from IPL 2025. He feels Rohit would make KKR’s batting a lot stronger and with Gautam Gambhir as mentor, the move could work in KKR favour.

“I feel Rohit Sharma won’t be at Mumbai Indians next season. I would love to see Rohit opening for KKR. Imagine Gauti as mentor, Iyer as captain and Rohit playing as the opening batter. Kolkata will become a very strong batting unit. Rohit bats well on any wicket as he is a great player. It will be good to see him at KKR,” said Wasim Akram.

The right-handed batter has accumulated 1051 runs in 33 matches and has scored a century and 6 fifties against Kolkata-based franchise.

He has amassed 466 runs from 13 matches at the Eden Gardens.

KKR are leading the points table and need just one more win to seal a spot in the playoffs. KKR will face MI at the Eden Gardens on May 11.
