Former ICC elite umpire Asad Rauf, who BCCI banned in 2016, now runs an apparel shop in Landa Bazaar in Lahore.

Asad Rauf was one of the best umpires from 2000 to 2013. He officiated in more than 150 international games.

Rauf, who now runs a shop in Lahore after he retired in 2013, has slammed former India opener Virender Sehwag for falsely accusing him of spot-fixing.

Asad was a controversial figure as he was accused of accepting expensive gifts from bookies in the IPL and involvement in a betting scandal in 2013. The BCCI banned him for 5 years.

Former Indian cricketer Sehwag had accused Rauf of spot-fixing in a chat with ‘What The Duck’.

“He was fond of gifts. I was the brand ambassador of Adidas at the time, so I gifted him shoes, t-shirts, and glasses, and I jokingly told him not to give me out while I am batting. And he did exactly that. I edged a ball during one of the matches but Rauf gave the decision in my favour and I survived,” Sehwag had told in that interview.

The Pakistani has hit back at the former legendary cricketer. “As far as Sehwag is concerned, uski kya majaal wo ek ICC elite umpire se kuch kahe (Sehwag has no power to ask for a favour). I was never accused of such behaviour in my career.”
