VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid
Hemang Badani revealed that Indian team were left with no clothes

On this date, 22 years ago, India registered one of their historic Test wins when they beat Australia by 171 runs at the Eden Gardens after getting a follow-on.

Australia, batting first, put 445 runs on the board and in reply, India succumbed to 171 runs, following which they got asked to bat again. In one of the rare moments in Test history, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid put on a 376-run-fifth-wicket partnership and batted the whole day, scripting one of the best comebacks in cricket.

Courtesy of the partnership, India took a 384 runs lead and restricted Australia to 212 runs to win the match.

Recalling the epic Eden Garden Test match, former India player Hemang Badani posted a tweet where he shared a never heard before anecdote.

Badani revealed that the Indian players had packed their suitcases and sent them to the airport post 3rd day, thinking that the team will leave for the airport right after the fourth day but due to the stand between Laxman and Dravid, the Indian side were left without clothes and had to eat dinner in their whites.

“Not many know that at the end of day three, we had packed our suitcases, they were to be taken straight to the airport, and the team were to go straight to the airport from the ground. And then these two batted like magicians without losing a wicket the entire day.”

“When we got back to the hotel, we didn’t have our suitcases and were stuck with our match gear and tracks until about 9 pm or so. A lot of us ate dinner at the hotel restaurant in our whites. #INDvsAUS #laxman #dravid #BCCI,” tweeted Badani.

India recently won the BGT 2-1 and also qualified for the World Test Championship Finals.
