India will test its combinations in the upcoming T20I series against Australia and South Africa. Ahead of the three-match series against the defending champions, India captain Rohit Sharma said there is a chance Virat Kohli might open for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

Virat opened the innings in the last Super 4 stage match against Afghanistan and ended his century drought. The veteran accumulated an unbeaten 122 off 61 balls, laced with 12 fours and 6 sixes.

“It is nice to have options. Players are flexible and can bat at any position depending on the match situation. When we try and do something new, that does not mean that’s a problem,” the Indian captain told the reporters.

Rohit spoke about Kohli’s performance for Royal Challengers Bangalore. “Virat Kohli is one of the options to open the innings. Since there is no backup opener in the squad, Virat is a definite option for us,” he added.
