The national selectors have announced the India squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. KL Rahul was not considered despite his impressive batting for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2024. The right-handed batter has scored over 300 runs but the wise men didn’t consider him even for the reserve category.

Lucknow have made it to the playoffs in the last two IPL season, with Rahul leading the charge but Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, the two specialist wicket-keepers were preferred over him. Samson and Pant have been in exceptional form in the 17th season.

There were reports of Rahul playing in the middle order to boost his chances for the T20 World Cup but the batter opted for the opening slot in the ongoing season of the cash-rich league. This could have impacted his chances, considering the settled pair of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Shubman Gill is the reserve opener.

Meanwhile, LSG took to social media to support their captain. “Our No.1 since Day Zero 💙,” the official X handle of the team captioned the post.
