Kolkata Knight Riders batter Rinku Singh has explained why he has not been fielding in recent matches. He confirmed he has been dealing with a minor side injury that has restricted his mobility on the field.

“It’s a minor injury which prevented me from taking the field.” said Rinku. The positive news for KKR fans is that Singh expects to return for their next match, a welcome update since his energetic presence boosts their fielding. With his commitment and hustle, Singh’s skills are a valuable asset to the team.

Rinku smashed a quick 20 off just nine balls, that including two sixes, to give the much needed boost towards the end of the innings against Rajasthan Royals. When asked why he doesn’t come out to bat earlier, Rinku revealed that it was mainly due of the terrific form of the KKR top order.

The southpaw also spoke about Sunil Narine‘s brilliant century and commented,

“Not much has changed. It’s the outcome of his relentless dedication in the nets,”

“He has become more patient. Whereas earlier he would swing wildly, he now shows restraint, waiting for the right ball to hit. His thoughtful, strategic approach to batting has brought a new dimension to his game.” added Rinku.

Sunil Narine smashed 109 runs off 56 balls to power the hosts to 223/6 at a packed Eden Gardens. However, Jos Buttler had other plans. He remarkably dragged the Royals back from the brink when they were 121/6 after 13 overs. Buttler steered his team past the 224-run target off the final ball, even though they needed 46 runs from the last 3 overs.

Batting first on a fresh pitch, Narine blazed to a 49-ball century, leading KKR’s charge in this top-of-the-table clash. He bludgeoned 13 fours and six sixes with supreme confidence and skill against one of the IPL’s best attacks. Trent Boult eventually dismissed Narine, but the opener had inflicted heavy damage.

Narine carried the KKR batting lineup in a one-man show. He shared a 85-run stand with Angkrish Raghuvanshi and then added 51 runs with Andre Russell. Narine batted until the 18th over, compiling his maiden T20 hundred. However, Buttler had the last laugh as Narine’s effort went in vain.
