FAQs about the Indian cricket team
Statistically, Tendulkar is the No.1 cricket player in India. He has played the most number of international cricket matches, scored the most number of runs, and hit the most number of hundreds. In a career spanning 24 years, Tendulkar amassed 34357 runs in 664 international matches at an average of 48.52 with 100 international hundreds and 164 half-centuries.
Looking at Test match records, Virat Kohli is the most successful captain in India. He led the Indian team in 68 Test matches, of which the team won 40 and lost only 17. 11 Test matches Kohli led finished in draws. He finished his Test captaincy stint with a win percentage of 58.82.
Kohli had an extremely impressive record as ODI captain as well. He led India in 95 one-dayers, winning 65 to finish with a win percentage of 70.43. MS Dhoni has won most ODIs for India as captain – 110 off 200. He has a win percentage of 59.52. Under MSD, though, India won two World Cups (2007 and 2011) and one Champions Trophy (2013). Kohli came close occasionally, but India could never win an ICC title under him.
