The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday took to its official Twitter handle and shared a fun video in which Krishnappa Gowtham and Ruturaj Gaikwad can be seen enjoying  “Language Exchange” session ahead of the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka.

While Gowtham taught the Pune-born batsman some Kannada terms, Ruturaj helped the all-rounder to learn a few Marathi words.

Both the young players also explained some cricketing terms in their native languages.

Ruturaj and Gowtham are two of the six uncapped players named in India’s 20-member squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka series. The duo will be looking to make their international debut during the series.

Notably, Ruturaj Gaikwad was last seen in action during the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League before it was called off due to multiple COVID-19 cases inside the bio-bubble.

Prior to the suspension of IPL 2021, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman scored 196 runs in 7 games at an average of 28 and a strike rate of 128.94.

Meanwhile, the Shikhar Dhawan-led side is scheduled to play 3 ODIs and as many T20 Internationals against the Lankans in Colombo.

In the absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli and limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma, Dhawan was given the responsibility to lead the Men in Blue in Sri Lanka.

India’s main squad is currently in England for the five-match Test series against the hosts, starting from August 4.
