Former India opener Virender Sehwag was not happy with what Virat Kohli did with the umpires after his controversial dismissal against Kolkata Knight Riders. The former RCB captain was given out on a high full toss bowled by Harshit Rana, and the third umpire also upheld the decision of the on-field official. Kohli lost his cool before walking back to the dressing room and abused umpires. He was punished by the BCCI with a fine of 50 percent of his match fees.

The broadcasting channel had to clarify that Virat was out according to the rules of the game as he was standing outside the crease, and the ball was dipping. The ball would have been below his waistline if he was there on the crease or behind it.

“It is not the question of whether he was out or not or was it a no-ball or not. Virat should respect the umpires. Once you have been given out, you should put your head down and return back to the dressing room. Arguing with umpires is not correct. He has the right to discuss things with the umpires, but what he did was not right. This is what I learned from Sachin Tendulkar. He never said anything to the umpires despite several wrong decisions during his career.

“There have been times when Virat was out but was not given by the umpires. There were also instances when he was not out but was given his marching orders. That’s a human error and every human makes a mistake. You can’t change the decision of the umpire and the best thing is to accept it and go back,” Virender Sehwag said on The Club Prairie Fire.
