Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill is under pressure in the Indian Premier League 2024. He is the best batter in his franchise, followed by Sai Sudharsan. The third best is Rahul Tewatia, but the run difference between numbers one and three is almost 200 runs. Gill hasn’t been able to find clarity about his role in the 17th season.
He doesn’t know if he has to attack or play the anchor’s role for the struggling batting unit. Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu said that Gill has to bat like Hardik Pandya, who was there with GT for two seasons.
“Shubman Gill is the number one batter of Gujarat Titans. Sai Sudharsan is their unsung hero. Rahul Tewatia has done well with the bat, but the difference between him and Gill is almost 200 runs. Gill will have to bat like Hardik Pandya. Hardik batted at the No.4 position for Gujarat and kept one end intact, which allowed other batters to break free.
“Gill will have to play similarly. Even if plays a bit slow, his strike rate will not go below 140, which is not bad. If Gujarat want to move forward in the tournament, they need their captain playing most of the overs,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said on Star Sports.
The Titans have won four and lost four matches in the Indian Premier League 2024.
