Babar Azam dethroned Shubman Gill to become No.1 batter.

On Wednesday, October 25, ICC updated their weekly ranking charts. India’s star batter Shubman Gill, who rose back to form after a fifty against Bangladesh, inched closer to dethroning Babar Azam from the top spot in ICC ODI rankings.

Babar Azam, who is the No.1 ODI batter scored 74 runs against Afghanistan, but it came for a losing side. Babar’s rating points have dropped to 829. Meanwhile, Gill is just six rating points away from surpassing Babar in the rankings.

Quinton de Kock, who smashed three centuries in this World Cup, jumped three spots to rank 3rd on the list. Talking about Indians, Virat Kohli is ranked 6th on the charts with 747 points, while Rohit Sharma is 8th with 725 points.

In bowling, India’s Mohammed Siraj continues to sit at the No.2 position.

Talking about India’s performance in this World Cup, they are on top of the table with five wins in five games. However, Hardik Pandya suffered a sprained ankle against Bangladesh and is likely to be ruled out until the game against South Africa on November 5.

Pakistan will next play South Africa on October 27, while India lock horns against England on October 29. Gill has the chance to dethrone Babar from the top spot this week.
