During their net practice, RR keeper Dhruv Jurel took over as wicketkeeper and astonished his fellow players by diving to grab a swinging delivery from teammate Nadre Burger. Burger was left in disbelief after Jurel’s daring attempt in a recent video posted by RR’s official social media account. This only served to emphasize the 23-year-old’s exceptional wicketkeeping skills.
Since making his debut for India in the Test series against England earlier this year, Jurel has become one of the most promising wicketkeeper-batters.
A lot was expected from Jurel in IPL 2024 after a fantastic start to his international career against England. RR captain, Sanju Samson, has donned the gloves for IPL 2024, thus Jurel hasn’t been able to play his typical role. The youngster has continued to play as a pure middle-order batter for the Rajasthan franchise, amassing 103 runs in ten games.
Jurel scored his first IPL half century against LSG on April 25. He made 52 of 34 balls and played a vital role in RR’s victory at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow.
He usually bats at number five or six but the young player has taken up the unique role of a finisher or someone who stabilises the innings. But because of the excellent batting form of players like Ryan Parag, Samson, and Jos Butler, Jurel hasn’t had many opportunities to showcase his talent for RR.
RR will feel incredibly confident going into their much-anticipated match against CSK on May 12 because they are second in the points table.
