Harbhajan Singh hit out at Delhi Capitals after they lost the game to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 67 runs in the Indian Premier League 2024. The hosts were put under pressure by Travis Head (89) and Abhishek Sharma (46) as the two added 131 runs in 6.2 overs. Pat Cummins’ team put up 266/7 in the allotted 20 overs.

Delhi were never in the hunt despite hitting by Jake Fraser-McGurk  (65) and Abishek Porel (42). David Warner (1) and Prithvi Shaw (16), the two openers, had the responsibility to score runs at a brisk pace but they again disappointed. Delhi were bowled out for 199 in 19.1 overs.

Bhajji wants Delhi Capitals to drop their openers from the team. “Rishabh Pant should open the innings if Delhi Capitals want to qualify for the playoffs. They need a new opening pair as Warner and Shaw haven’t done anything so far. Jake Fraser-McGurk can be paired with Pant in the opening slot.

“Delhi will have to go with players, who can be match-winners. Warner has past his prime and the contributions are not coming from his bat. They are changing players in every game,” he said.

Delhi have lost five games, while winning just three. DC head coach Ricky Ponting and the Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly, have been found wanting in their respective roles.
