Former India cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. Each and every international century of the former skipper was a matter of celebration for all the cricket fanatics around the globe. There is hardly any format where the Master Blaster didn’t break any record with his impeccable batting talent.

Shedding light on Tendulkar’s achievement, legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar recently said Sachin is the “closest thing” to batting perfection. Gavaskar, who himself was known as one of the best openers in the world, reckoned that he has seen many brilliant players in the cricket fraternity but none of them could come closer to the batting perfection like Tendulkar.

Speaking to India Today, Gavaskar said, “I think, the closest thing to batting perfection is Sachin Tendulkar. I’ve never seen a batsman like him. I’ve seen many terrific batsmen from the time I was growing up, from the time I played and now from the time I’ve been watching cricket but nobody had come close to batting perfection like Sachin Tendulkar has.”

The 71-year-old former India player showered praise on the Mumbai-born star. According to Gavaskar, Sachin had a variety of shots in his arsenal, and the way he used to play those shots was ‘fantastic’.

“The backlift, the head, the way he would lean forward, the balance when he’d play off the front foot, the balance when he would play off the back foot, on the offside, on the leg side, playing the scoop shot in the T20 format, he pulled it off fantastically. He had everything.”
