MS Dhoni
Former India player Irfan Pathan wants the start batter to change his call and bat for a few more overs.

MS Dhoni played 11 balls and scored 12 runs in the CSK vs PBKS match in IPL 2024. He couldn’t time the ball for the first time in the 17th season. In the previous games, his strike rate was above 300 as he slammed fours and sixes in the few deliveries he faced. The former CSK captain has restricted himself to the last few balls of the game, and despite requests from his teammates, former players, and fans, he hasn’t changed his stance.

Former India player Irfan Pathan wants the star batter to change his call and bat for a few more overs. According to him, if Dhoni starts coming out to bat from the 16th over, it will help the team in the remaining matches and also delight the fans.

“No complaints, but I want to see MS Dhoni coming out earlier, probably in the 16th over. I know he doesn’t want to be out early in the innings, but he should consider it. If he starts batting from the 16th over, CSK will benefit as his strokes can lift the scoring rate while batting first, and the team can win matches while batting second.

“Even the fans want to see more of him if the current is his last in the Indian Premier League. I feel that, seeing his fitness, Dhoni can continue for many more years with him; you never know what is coming next,” Irfan Pathan said on Star Sports.
