MS Dhoni is the greatest match-finisher to have played for India. The Men in Blue have been searching for a player who can contribute to the lower order, like the former India captain. Rinku Singh is touted as the next finisher, who can take Dhoni’s place in the national team.
The southpaw has shown his talent for India in the limited opportunities and is playing the role of a finisher for Kolkata Knight Riders. Singh hasn’t got enough chances in IPL 2024. Rinku was promoted in the batting order in the match against Delhi Capitals, but couldn’t take advantage.
Legendary batter Navjot Singh Sidhu compared the Aligarh-born cricketer with Dhoni. He is backing Rinku to win games for India like Dhoni did during his illustrious career.
“Rinku Singh can take MS Dhoni’s place. He can finish games like the veteran player. Rinku is talented and can hit shots to all parts of the ground. Like Mahi, he is calm and relaxed and takes no pressure despite challenging situations. He is the future of the Indian cricket and he will play a role of a finisher for a long time,” he said on Star Sports.
Rinku is one of the top contenders to play for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
