Batters with 500-plus runs across most IPL seasons
For the seventh time now, the 35-year-old batter has scored 500-plus runs, equalling the record of David Warner. 

Virat Kohli unlocked a new milestone as he became just the second player in the Indian Premier League history to clock 500-plus runs across most seasons. Kohli, who made his IPL debut in the inaugural 2008 campaign, became the first player in IPL 2024 to reach 500 runs. For the seventh time now, the 35-year-old batter has scored 500-plus runs, equalling the record of David Warner. 

Kohli attained the 500-run mark feat in Match 45 of the IPL 2024 season against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. He scored a neat 44-ball 70* as RCB chased down a 201-run target in just 16 overs. Will Jacks starred for RCB in a 41-ball 100*, reaching from his half-century to a century off 10 balls. RCB completed the fastest chase of a 200-plus target in IPL history courtesy of Kohli and Jacks, who shared a telling 166*-run stand for the second wicket, which is RCB’s fourth-highest.

Virat Kohli (7 seasons)

Kohli has made 247 appearances in the cash-rich league. From 239 innings, the ace batter has clocked 7763 runs at an average of 38.43. His strike rate is 130-plus. Kohli owns 54 half-centuries. His eight tons are the most by a player. Kohli has scored 500-plus runs in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2023 and 2024.

In 2011, Kohli piled up 557 runs from 16 innings at 46.41. His strike rate was 121.08. He smashed 16 sixes and 55 fours. He registered 4 fifties and was the season’s 2nd-highest scorer after Chris Gayle (608).

In 2013, Kohli managed 634 runs from 16 innings at 45.28 (SR: 138.73). He hit 64 fours and 22 sixes. Kohli hammered six fifties and was the 3rd-highest scorer that season after Michael Hussey and Gayle.

In 2015, Kohli piled up 505 runs from 16 innings at 45.90. He smashed 23 sixes and 35 fours. He was the 5th-highest scorer (50s: 3).

In 2016, Kohli enjoyed his best campaign, smashing 973 runs, which remains an IPL record. He averaged 81.08 (SR: 152.03). He managed 4 tons and 7 fifties.

In 2018, Kohli spanked 530 runs from 14 matches at 48.18. He hit four fifties (4s: 52, 6s: 18). His strike rate was 139.10. Kohli was the 7th-highest scorer that season.

In 2023, Kohli stood tall with 639 runs from 14 innings at 53.25. He slammed 16 sixes and 65 fours. He registered two tons and six fifties; He was the 4th-highest scorer.

In 2024, Kohli has 500 runs from 10 matches thus far at 71.42. He owns four fifties and a ton.

David Warner (7 seasons)

In 183 matches, Warner remains the 3rd-highest scorer after Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan. Warner owns 6564 runs at 40.77. He has 62 fifties and four tons. Warner attained 500-plus runs across 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2023. Notably, he scored 500-plus runs in his six successive outings, having missed the tournament in 2018.

In 2014, Warner scored 528 runs from 14 innings at 48. He slammed six fifties, smashing 39 fours and 24 sixes. He was the 4th-highest scorer.

In 2015, Warner scored 562 runs at 43.23. He was the Orange Cap winner. He averaged 43.23, smashing 7 fifties. He slammed 65 fours and 21 sixes.

In 2016, Warner lifted the IPL title, scoring 848 runs for SRH. He averaged 60.57 and slammed nine fifties. He hit 88 fours and 31 sixes. He was the second-highest scorer.

In 2017, Warner was once again the Orange Cap winner, scoring 641 runs at 58.27. He hit one ton and four fifties. His 63 fours and 26 sixes stood out. 

In 2019, Warner scored 692 runs and won his third Orange Cap. He averaged 69.20, slamming one ton and 8 fifties. He hammered 57 fours and 21 maximums.

In 2020, Warner did well, scoring 548 runs at 39.14. He was the season’s 3rd-highest scorer. He smashed one hundred and five fifties. 52 fours and 14 sixes were met with his willow.

In 2023, Warner scored a decent 516 runs for DC at 36.85. He registered six fifties. Warner was the 8th-highest scorer that season.

KL Rahul (5 seasons)

KL Rahul has accumulated 500-plus runs across five seasons. Overall, the player has clobbered 4541 runs from 127 matches at 46.33. He owns four tons and 36 fifties. He has 500-plus runs across IPL 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Rahul had 659 runs in IPL 2018 and averaged 54.91 for Punjab Kings. He smashed six fifties, hitting 66 fours and 32 sixes.

In IPL 2019, Rahul followed up with 593 runs at 53.90. He slammed one ton and six fifties, hitting 49 fours and 25 sixes. 

In IPL 2020, Rohit crunched 670 runs at 55.83. He won the Orange Cap. Rahul registered one ton and five fifties; He slammed 58 fours and 23 sixes.

For the fourth straight occasion, Rahul managed 500-plus runs for Punjab, scoring 626 runs at 62.60. He smashed six fifties. Rahul hammered 48 fours and 30 sixes.

In his debut campaign for new entrants LSG in IPL 2022, Rahul clobbered 616 runs at 51.33. He smashed two tons and 4 fifties. Rahul managed 45 fours and 30 sixes.

Shikhar Dhawan (5 seasons)

Shikhar Dhawan had 6769 runs from 222 IPL matches at 35.25. He owns 2 tons and 51 fifties. Dhawan has 500-plus runs across 5 different editions. 

Playing for Deccan Chargers in IPL 2012, Dhawan slammed 569 runs at 40.64 with the help of five fifties (4s: 58, 6s: 18).

In IPL 2016, Dhawan played for SRH, scoring 501 runs at 38.53 (50s: 3). 53 fours and 9 sixes met Dhawan’s bat.

In IPL 2019, Dhawan scored 521 runs for Delhi Capitals at 34.73 (50s: 5). He spanked 64 fours and 11 sixes.

In IPL 2020, Dhawan scored 618 runs for DC at 44.14. He slammed two tons and four fifties. He smashed 67 fours and 12 sixes.

In IPL 2021, he once again smashed 587 runs at 39.13. He hit three fifties. Dhawan slammed 63 fours and 16 sixes.
