Sanjay Manjrekar has revealed his Team India squad for the ICC World Cup 2024. The veteran cricketer left out Virat Kohli from his team. The highest run-scorer in the history of the Indian Premier League is currently leading the batting charts in the 17th season.

However, Kohli’s batting approach in the shortest format has come under scanner in IPL 2024, with the former RCB captain often failing to accelerate the run rate. In ongoing season, he equalled the record of the slowest hundred in the tournament history.

In the latest match with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he faced 43 balls to hit 51 runs. His knock could have resulted in RCB’s defeat but the high flying batting line-up of Hyderabad failed to get going and was restricted to 171/8 in 20 overs while chasing 207.

Hardik Pandya also failed to make it to the team. He has been a big let down since returning to Mumbai Indians for the new edition. He hasn’t been able to score runs, while his bowling has lost firepower.

Manjrekar went with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal for the opening slots followed by Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja.

In the bowling department, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Avesh Khan, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav and Krunal Pandya have been given a chance.
