Travis Head didn’t have an easy outing against Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2024. He struggled to hit the ball and decided to play an anchor role, with Nitish Kumar Reddy going after the bowlers. Former India player Mohammad Kaif lauded the SRH opener for his important innings and also highlighted the strike rate if it was Virat Kohli in place of the Aussie batter.

Travis accumulated 58 runs off 44 balls at a strike rate of 131.81. He hit 6 fours and 3 sixes. Head shared a 96-run partnership with Nitish, who amassed 76 runs off 42 deliveries, laced with 8 sixes and 3 fours.

The hosts put up 201/3 and won the game by 1 run. Despite sensational batting by Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Royals couldn’t cross the line.

Kaif was impressed with Head’s display. “Travis Head played an important innings in the context of the game. The pitch was not easy to bat on at the start of the innings and he batted according to the situation. However, had Virat Kohli shown the same kind of composure and batted like Head, the strike rate issue would have been hogging all the limelight, with the Indian batter getting slammed again,” Mohammad Kaif said.

Virat’s strike rate is the most discussed topic in the 17th season. He has been lambasted by Aakash Chopra, Simon Doull, and Sunil Gavaskar. The veteran recently hit back at all the critics and even questioned their credibility.
