Shakib Al Hasan’s wife Ummey Al Hasan has defended her husband after he lashed out at the on-field umpire during a match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League.
Shakib, the captain of Mohammedan Sporting Club, lost his cool twice within a span of two overs. He first kicked the stumps in anger. The star all-rounder later uprooted the stumps and even flung them to the ground.
This happened after the on-field umpire turned down his LBW appeal against Abahani’s Mushfiqur Rahim.
The 34-year-old player later issued an apology but the damage was already done.
Soon after the incident, Shakib’s video of protesting against the umpire went viral on social media platforms.
Shakib’s better half Ummey took to her official Facebook account and wrote: “I’m enjoying this incident as much as the media is, finally some news on tv! It is great to see the support of the people who can see the clear picture of today’s incident at least someone has the guts to stand against all odds,” Ummey wrote in a long caption.
“The headlines are really saddening. To me, it is a plot against him that has been going on for a while to portray him as the villain in all circumstances! If you are a cricket lover beware of your actions,” she added.
