Sanju Samson, India’s wicketkeeper-batter, has now spoken publicly about his move to the Chennai Super Kings after the team secured a major trade with the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction. CSK released a video on their social media handles where Samson was seen wearing their yellow jersey for the first time.

Samson is among the most seasoned players in the IPL, having appeared in 177 matches, and CSK will be his third team. Since his debut in 2013, he has been part of the Rajasthan Royals almost every year, except in 2016 and 2017 when he turned out for the Delhi Capitals.

“I’ve been looking forward to this moment, and I feel lucky to get to wear the yellow jersey finally,” he said.
“I’m usually seen in darker colours, so putting on yellow felt really special,” Samson mentioned while wearing the No. 11 jersey.
“I never really imagined how it would feel to wear CSK colours, but the moment I put it on, it felt positive. I felt happy. It had a different vibe to it, almost like a new energy. Wearing that jersey made me feel like a champion. I thought, Okay… wow.”
CSK released all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to the Rajasthan Royals. The IPL confirmed the deal in a media advisory last Sunday, noting that Jadeja’s salary was revised to INR 14 crore from his earlier INR 18 crore. Samson has joined CSK for INR 18 crore.
