West Indies legend, Brian Lara has suggested MS Dhoni to take some rest as CSK’s batting line-up is long enough and the players have been in good form.

After Chennai Super Kings’s 45-run win against the Rajasthan Royals in their third match of IPL 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, West Indies legend, Brian Lara has suggested MS Dhoni to take some rest as his team’s batting line-up is long enough and the players have been in good form.

In the match against Royals, Dhoni came to bat at number seven position, ahead of Sam Curran and Dwayne Bravo. But the former India skipper failed to get going as he was dismissed by Chetan Sakariya for 17-ball 18.

Talking about Dhoni’s dismissal, Lara explained that the Chennai-based franchise should not expect much from the 39-year-old with the bat in the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League.

“I don’t think there should be asking for too much effort from Dhoni with the bat. He got the gloves in his hands, he has got to take the catches and do the stumpings. But I find that batting order is so long, Dhoni can take some rest,” the 51-year-old said on Star Sports Network.

“We want him in form, we know how destructive he can be, but he has got so many good players. Look at Sam Curran, who is in great form. He comes in and starts hitting from ball one,” the batting great added.

With two wins from three games, CSK are currently placed second in the points table behind the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

The Yellow Army will next face the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 21 in Mumbai.
