Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has lashed out at Shaheen Afridi for his poor performance in the third and final ODI against England at the Edgbaston. The 21-year-old went wicketless in the match. He was expensive as well, giving away 78 runs from his quota of 10 overs.
Kaneria has said that Afridi should be ashamed of himself for the way he bowled against the Ben Stokes-led side.
Reflecting on his behaviour, the 40-year-old reckoned that Shaheen Afridi is just an overrated bowler and he needs to tone down his attitude on the field.
“Shaheen Shah Afridi. Gh**te ka ace bowler (ace bowler, my foot!). You should be ashamed of yourself the way Vince, Gregory, and Salt thrashed you. You need to improve your behaviour. You have hardly had any time since you started to play for Pakistan and you want to be a star,” Kaneria said in his latest YouTube video.
“When you don’t respect your seniors this is what happens. Show your attitude towards the opposite batsmen and not senior players. You will never be successful in cricket unless you respect your seniors,” he added.
Despite Babar Azam’s scintillating knock of 158 runs off 139 balls in Birmingham, the Men in Green failed to avoid a humiliating whitewash.
It was James Vince’s maiden hundred and a brilliant cameo from Lewis Gregory which guided the hosts to a stunning 3-wicket win in the game.
