Chennai Super Kings suffered their first defeat against Rajasthan Royals at Chepauk in 15 years. Chasing 176 runs to win, the MS Dhoni-led team fell short by 3 runs. MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja played cameos, but it was not enough in the end. While Mahi added 32 not out off 17 balls, Jadeja scored an unbeaten 25 off 15.
Former India players Sunil Gavaskar and Harbhajan Singh highlighted MS Dhoni’s blunder, which cost the franchise the game.
“Why is MS Dhoni not coming to bat early? He should promote himself in the batting order to win these types of games in the Indian Premier League,” said Harbhajan Singh.
“Dhoni should give himself more balls to win games. He should have come in place of Ambati Rayudu. Rayudu didn’t do anything in the game and was sitting in the AC for the most part of the contest. Dhoni should bat for a long duration in the league,” said Sunil Gavaskar.
