Ravi Shastri once declared that Kuldeep Yadav would be India’s number-one spinner in overseas Test matches but never included him in the Playing XI when he was the head coach.
He wants Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma to play him in the Test series against Australia. Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are similar, and Yadav should be preferred over Patel.
Ravichandran Ashwin is the leader of the pack, with Ravindra Jadeja also getting the nod due to his batting. There would be competition between Kuldeep and Axar for the third spot.
“I would like to see Kuldeep playing straightaway.Jadeja and Axar are similar while Kuldeep is different. If there is anyone who can spin the ball on day one, it will be Kuldeep,” he said on Star Sports.
“If the track doesn’t offer spin, Kuldeep can still come into play. Also, roughs will be created by the Indiana dn Australian pacers and that will come into play. A wrist spinner can spin both ways,” he added.
