Lucknow Super Giants joined the Indian Premier League as one of the two new franchises ahead of the IPL 2022 season. Lucknow Super Giants is a franchise cricket team based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. It is owned by RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, which previously owned the Rising Pune Supergiant franchise in 2016 and 2017.
Led by KL Rahul, Andy Flower was appointed head coach and Gautam Gambhir as the team’s mentor. As LSG debuted in the 2022 season, they finished third on the points table and qualified for the playoffs by winning 9 out of 15 matches.
Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium is the team’s home ground. Generally known as Ekana Cricket Stadium, it is located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. It was built in 2017, with a seating capacity of 50,000. It is the fifth-largest international cricket stadium in India.
