Ruturaj Gaikwad vs Shivam Dube ICC T20 World Cup 2024
Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu was asked to name one among Ruturajj and Dube, and the veteran went with the latter.

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 108 runs against Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2024. The new CSK captain looked in complete control and played shots all around the wicket. He is also one of the contenders for a spot in the Indian team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. However, his chances to make it to the 15-man squad are not strong.

On the other hand, his CSK teammate Shivam Dube is the front-runner in securing a place in the team. His power-hitting in the middle overs has made him a favorite. Dube is the highest run-getter for Chennai in the 17th season, with three half-centuries coming from his bat. Although he hasn’t been used as a bowler by the defending champions due to the Impact Player Rule, he has the skills to roll his arm over when needed.

Shivam has been in form in the last one year, and the cricket experts have warned the Indian selectors of the consequences if the player is not picked for the World Cup team.

Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu was asked to name one among Ruturaj and Dube, and the veteran went with the latter.

“There are a lot of opening options available in the Indian team. Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli can play as openers. There is no place in that slot. Ruturaj also bats at number 3, but even that place is full. So, Ruturaj has no chance of being a part of the squad until some injuries occur.

“Shivam Dube will travel with the team. He has broken down the door of the selectors with his performances. A batter like him at the No. 4 or 5 spots can win you games. He is unstoppable in this IPL, and he hits the bowlers into the stands. He will surely make it to the final fifteen,’ Navjot Singh Sidhu said on Star Sports.
