Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Mitchell Starc was ruled out of the game against Punjab Kings. According to Shreyas Iyer, the pacer suffered a cut on his finger in the contest against RCB and was removed from the team. However, it has become a trend that cricketers are never dropped despite their poor performances, and they suffer injuries to be kept out of the playing group.

Meanwhile, Starc’s price tag of INR 24.75 crore has often led to debates, considering he became the most expensive player in IPL history despite not coming to the tournament for years and his below-par track record in recent times.

The Aussie speedster has been the worst performer for his side in the 17th season and has contributed to the team’s defeat by leaking runs at an alarming rate.

Former India player Irfan Pathan slammed him and questioned his price tag during the latest game against the Punjab Kings.

“He has been their most expensive bowler, leaking runs in every match. Starc almost cost them the game against RCB when Karn Sharma hit him for three sixes in the 20th over. He doesn’t deserve that amount, as he can’t even play 14th games in a season,” Irfan Pathan said.

In 7 matches, he has taken just 6 wickets at an economy rate of 11.48.
