Former Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis, on Saturday, congratulated former skipper and current Prime Minister of the country, Imran Khan, on winning the trust vote in the National Assembly.

Imran Khan’s victory sees the end of political uncertainty in the country, and strengthening his government’s legitimacy after an embarrassing defeat of the finance minister in the hotly-contested Senate elections.

Needing 172 seats to secure a majority, the 1992 World Cup winner secured 178 votes in the 342-member lower house of Parliament during a special session convened on the directives of the Pakistan President.

In the same light, Waqar Younis took to Twitter and congratulated his former teammate and skipper, Imran Khan. “The Tiger Roars Again. Congratulations Skipper #VoteofConfidence @ImranKhanPTI,” he captioned a picture.

“A total of 178 members recorded their vote in favour of resolution and the resolution has been passed. Consequently, Imran Khan has obtained the vote of confidence and commands the majority of the members of the assembly as the Prime minister,” Asad Qaiser, the speaker announced the result.

Imran Khan played 88 Tests and 175 ODIs for Pakistan between 1971 and 1992. Waqar Younis, on the other hand, featured in 87 Tests and 262 ODIs, bagging a total of 789 international wickets.
