Former India player and one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar on Friday offered his condolences to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who recently lost his father due to cancer.

Bhuvneshwar’s father Kiran Pal Singh passed away at the age of 63 after battling with liver cancer for eight months. He breathed his last at his Ganganagar C-Pocket residence in Meerut.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Sachin wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the news of your father’s demise @BhuviOfficial. May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to you and your family.”

Bhuvneshwar’s father was first detected with the illness in September 2020 when the Indian pacer was in UAE for the 13th edition of Indian Premier League.

Kiran Pal Singh had reportedly undergone successful chemotherapy at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi after consulting the doctors in UK. However, his condition started deteriorating a couple of weeks ago and he was admitted to a private hospital in Meerut.

Notably, Bhuvneshwar was last in action during IPL 2021. Playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the 31-year-old picked up just 3 wickets from 5 games at an economy rate of 9.10 before the tournament was suspended.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had to postpone the 14th edition of IPL due to rising number of COVID-19 cases.
