Former India captain and the current Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Sourav Ganguly, has heaped praise on Rishabh Pant, calling him an “unbelievable talent”.

Following his batting heroics in 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Pant has established himself as one of the best performers for the Indian team across formats.

During his latest interview with Bengali daily Anandabazar Patrika, Ganguly was asked whether Pant should continue playing his free-flowing game or not.

At this, the legendary Indian batsman replied that Rishabh Pant should be allowed to play his natural game on the field as he is capable of turning the tables in his side’s favour at any time.

“Pant is an unbelievable talent. He’s one of those players who can single-handedly change the course of a game. Pant is that kind of a game-changer. He should be allowed to play his natural game. It is better to let such players play like themselves,” Dada said.

The 23-year-old is currently gearing up for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand, starting on Friday at Southampton’s Ageas Bowl.

The young gloveman has notched up 662 runs in 11 Tests so far at an average of more than 40 during the WTC cycle.

Following the one-off Test against New Zealand, Kohli & Co. will face England in the five-match Test series which is scheduled to take place from August 4.

Sourav Ganguly is confident of India’s win in the forthcoming series against Joe Root-led side.

“This Indian team has performed brilliantly everywhere. Everyone is a top cricketer. I firmly believe this team will be successful in England,” the 48-year-old added.
