Sachin Tendulkar believes Rishabh Pant shouldn’t be compared with Adam Gilchrist or any other wicketkeeper-batsman for that matter. The former India skipper also stated that the southpaw should create his own legacy, rather than pressurizing himself with comparisons.
“I don’t like comparing players, each player has his own identity. Rishabh Pant would want to be known as Rishabh Pant and not 2 Adam Gilchrist. Every individual likes his own identity that is what Rishabh would like too.” Tendulkar told, CNN News18.
Pant was at his best during the Test series in Australia. His 89 runs at the Gabba played a big role in India’s sensational win. Pant even scored heavily against England at home. Sachin lauded his efforts and stated that he will evolve more when he plays more for India.
“I would judge him for what he’s able to do as an individual not in comparison of someone (else). The impact that he had last time was tremendous. He will get better and better with time,” Tendulkar added.
