Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan
Rohit playfully tried to slap Ishan Kishan on field

Frustrations grow for India as Australia have got off to a flying start in the fourth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After lunch on day 2, the baggy greens are 347/4, with Usman Khawaja batting on 150(354) and assisting him is Cameron Green, who is unbeaten in 95 (135).

India started the series well but fear that the visitors might make a comeback to level the series 2-2 and damper their chances of qualifying for the WTC finals. In such a scenario, it is expected for emotions to flare, particularly from skipper Rohit Sharma, who is known for his animated gestures in the moment of stress and pressure.

One such instance occurred on day 1 when Rohit playfully threatened to slap his MI teammate Ishan Kishan, who accidentally dropped a water bottle while returning to the pavilion. Rohit’s gesture was blown out of proportion by Twitter users, and they blamed the 35-year-old for mistreating and manhandling Ishan Kishan.

A user shared the video with the caption, “Rohit Sharma trying to manhandle Ishan Kishan. What does he think? Is Ishan his personal servant? Shameful behaviour.”

The incident occurred right before the start of the 61st over, and several users called out this behaviour by Rohit. Here are a few reactions.

However, several users came to Rohit’s defence and stated that these two share a good camaraderie, and it was a playful gesture by Sharma.

India are a win away from qualifying for the World Test Championship Finals.
