Deepak Chahar stole the show for Team India in the second ODI against Sri Lanka at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. He impressed everyone with his brilliant knock of 69 runs off 82 balls.
Coming to bat at number eight, the 28-year-old showed great character and turned the tables for his team. He hit seven fours, including the match-winning boundary and one six during his memorable innings in Colombo.
Chahar’s knock powered the visitors to chase down a challenging target of 276 runs and clinch the game by three wickets. His batting heroics also earned him a lot of praise from several past and present cricketers.
Soon after Shikhar Dhawan-led side defeated the Lankans in second ODI, India’s regular skipper Virat Kohli took to his official Twitter handle and showered praise on Deepak Chahar for his brilliant performance.
“Great win by the boys. From a tough situation to pull it off was an amazing effort. Great to watch. Well done DC and Surya. Tremendous knocks under pressure,” the 32-year-old batsman wrote.
Apart from Kohli, Rohit Sharma also hailed Indian team’s performance against Dasun Shanaka’s men.
“That was some performance by team India. Solid grit shown right through,” Rohit tweeted.
Virat Kohli is currently in Durham with India’s main squad for the five-match Test series against England, starting from August 4.
