Shreyas Iyer, who will miss the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), underwent successful shoulder surgery on Thursday. The 26-year-old, who was all set to lead the Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2021, had sustained a shoulder injury during the ODI series against England.
Shreyas Iyer posted a message for his well-wishers on Thursday. “Surgery was a success and with lion-hearted determination, I’ll be back in no time. Thank you for your wishes,” he wrote on Twitter. Iyer was also supposed to feature in England Royal London Cup after signing for Lancashire.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant was named captain of the Delhi-based franchise. DC will play their opening games against the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 10.
